4 Ways to Cozy Up Your Home Before the Holidays

There’s an awkward period between Halloween and Thanksgiving when you may be feeling like you’re ready to get the house decked in holiday decor but you don’t want it too overdone for Thanksgiving. If you’re like me and maybe aren’t ready to commit to a Christmas tree and stockings hung by November 1st, here are a few ways to easily cozy up your home for during the transition period. There’s a good chance you probably already have some of these items laying around your house, but if not, check out the Holiday Decor Shop to get some ideas!

1/ Sensory Experience

Candle | Pinecone Candles | Vase | Coffee Table

Even if you aren’t visually ready for twinkling lights, letting the holiday spirit waft through your home isn’t ever a bad idea. Between pumpkin and pine scents lies a happy medium found in spiced apple cider scents and more woodsy notes to carry you though the next couple of weeks. There’s nothing cozier than curling up by candlelight in the evening with a good book.

My favorite candles to burn at the moment are Thymes’ Simmered Cider and  Nest’s Classic Hearth. I have the same scents running in my Pura and it’s creates a perfectly cozy and welcoming ambiance. If you’re still feeling fall, I recently shared 10 of my favorite scents for fall!

2/ Chunky Textures & Rich Hues

Throw Blanket | Woven Pillow | Faux Fur Pillow | Wall Sconce

You may have already started this transition once summer wrapped, but changing out the soft textiles in your homes to ones with a heavier weave and richer texture can make such a drastic impact on your space. I love to throw a heavy-knit blanket in a rich hue haphazardly across the sofa, and change out my linen pillow covers for ones that are either faux-fur or wool.

Incorporating  a pop of burgundy, rust or terra-cotta into your space cozies it up in no time! I also love a moody floral print or a subtle check as accent items on pillows or napkins.

3/ Greenery Stems

Greenery Stems | Napkin | Cutting Board | Marble Tray | Candle

The happy compromise to holiday without pulling out your Christmas tree just yet is accessorizing with lots of greenery. Adding a few faux stems of spruce in a vase on your coffee table or a simple strand of garland on the mantle brings plenty of festiveness to a room without going overboard.

For something a little more subtle, I also love these juniper berry branches (they could carry through all of winter) or something with a hint of holiday like this fresh olive leaf wreath.

4/ Earthy Elements & Metals

Gold Mirror | Wood Candle Holders | Candle

Bringing in earthy elements through wood tones and rustic accent items is a great way to bring the outside in and make your home feel inviting and welcoming. The addition of these nature-inspired items automatically warms up any space. Pieces like this earthy-textured vase and these wood candlestick holders really make the space feel cozier. I also love featuring my brass accent items during the holidays – the shimmer of the metal reflecting the twinkling lights is so charming. I love these pinecone candlestick holders and this wood figurine to display on a coffee table or console.
