As soon as there’s a hint of fall in the air, I can’t restrain from filling my home with a warm and cozy fall scent. I’ve made it my mission over the last few years to sort through and test out some of the most popular fall scents, and narrow it down to ten that I find myself purchasing year after year.
For me, a good candle fills the room with scent but isn’t overly sweet, burns well, and makes your whole room feel like a warm hug. I like my autumn scents to be a mix of spicy and earthy with just a touch of pumpkin.. nothing too overly done, and I love a candle that has that little something unexpected that you can’t quite put your finger on.
In addition to candles, I’m also including my favorite Pura fragrances… it’s one of the best ways to fill your home with a scent continuously without worrying about an open flame. 1. Fig Tree: This candle isn’t your typical fall scent.. it’s a sophisticated dark fig nectar and peppered cassis that is warm and fresh all at the same time.
2. Pumpkin Clove: As far as classic pumpkin candles go, this one is my favorite. The packaging is always beautifully done, and the scent is the perfect blend of creamy pumpkin, vanilla, and orange zest with a touch of cinnamon. This candle usually kicks off my fall season!
3. Tobacco + Sandalwood: I always buy this brand from a local plant shop, and is easily one of my favorites. This scent is both floral and woody with notes of tobacco, sandalwood and vanilla, making it a beautiful transitional scent into the cozier months.
4. Woods: Also by Sydney Hale Candle Co., this candle is woody and herbal, offering a smoked cedarwood, bay leaf and bergamot fragrance that is perfect for cozy movie nights on the sofa.
5. Pumpkin & Sweet Vanilla: This is another favorite from Anthropologie! It is slightly sweeter than the other pumpkin scent with notes of nutmeg and vanilla – a great fall staple!
6. Hearth Classic: You can’t go wrong with any Nest candle, but this one smells like a warm fireplace with rich oud wood and frankincense.. it’s has all the appeal of a fire pit without the smoke!

7. Velvet Pear: This is my wild card pick – it isn’t a traditional fall scent, but it creates a mellow mood with pear and apple blended with hits of lemon, peony, white musk and amber. It’s a beautiful, crisp scent in contrast with the heavier ones of the season.
8. Simmered Cider: This is my favorite for fall… its top notes are a juicy apple and clove, blended with hints of bourbon and creamy musk. It’s perfection and would also work well for the holiday season!
9. Pumpkin & Sweet Vanilla: Mimicking Anthropologie’s famous pumpkin scent, this one is spicy with a touch of brown sugar sweetness with notes of vanilla cream. It smells just like you’re in the kitchen baking a pie!
10. Pumpkin Chai: This is such a fall classic.. It’s the perfect pumpkin scent with hints of clove, ginger, nutmeg, vanilla and musk. Start with this one for fall if you’re new to Pura!
