I always feel inspired at the beginning of the year to clean out my closet and build it back up with basics that I know will get the wear. I go through my closet and ask myself, “have I worn this in the last year?” If the answer is no, it usually goes. I like to keep what I think of as a capsule wardrobe as my base, and then I build it back up with items I need or fun trendy items from there.
When I’m choosing items to keep or purchase, I like to make sure I can make several outfits out of each item. It’s so important to be able to mix and match so that I can easily rewear my pieces. Nothing is worse than looking back through my closet at the end of the year and realizing I only wore something once and don’t see myself wearing it again!
These workwear-appropriate items are a few of the new staples I have added to my closet so far this year. I love that they are easily interchangeable, or could be worn with denim and sneakers for a cute dressed-down weekend look. This printed top would look fun paired with these faux leather pants, and these lace-hemmed pants go with just about everything in my wardrobe!
