Ways to Keep Your Kitchen Organized

I get asked quite frequently how I store everything in the kitchen since taking out all of our upper cabinets. We “lost” a significant amount of storage, but I actually find it’s way easier to keep things tidy with less space to clutter up! We keep our open shelf storage very functional. The space looks styled, but we use everything on the shelves almost daily.

The majority of the cookware and appliances are stored in our cabinets. I thought I’d share with you how I went about organizing our new kitchen, just incase you’re in nesting mode like I am and organizing every nook and cranny of your home!

Drawer Organization

When we remodeled our kitchen, we opted for six drawers on our island, and this was a GREAT use of space. We now use these drawers for pots and pans, food storage containers, mixing bowls, and food prep items. Grouping items together that are used together also makes a big difference in organization, that way you aren’t constantly reaching into several different drawers during meal prep. I have everything used during cooking (zesters, graters, measuring spoons, mixing bowls, etc) all in one drawer for easy grabbing. I also keep our spices in our top drawer with mini pinch prep bowls for easy measuring and prepping.

I use these spice containers and this spice rack so we can easily see what we have in stock.

I love this lid holder – it could also easily work in a cabinet.

I love these felt pan dividers. It keeps them from banging together or getting damaged.

I used several different drawer dividers in our flatware drawer, but this is holding the flatware, and this one divides up the drawer.

Cabinet Organization

I follow the same rule of thumb with my cabinets that I do my drawers, but be sure to keep location in the kitchen in mind. For example, I keep my Kitchen Aid mixer right below where I do my prepping. I keep baking pans next to my stove, and baking sheets under my stove. Oven mitts live in the cabinet next to the oven, and cutting boards live by my knife block. It all feels seamless and functional so that I can easily grab something I need.

I also learned there’s nothing I hate more than having to rearrange dishes in a cabinet to grab out the one thing I need. For that, I love to use these organizers so I can easily great multiple levels on one self and not have lots of pans piled up.

Pantry Organization

Our pantry is still a work in progress, but I’ll go ahead and share with you what our plans are/what we’ve done so far! Once I took our spices out, it opened up a lot of room on the back of the door to store all of our canned goods, and from there it’s just about dividing things up by category and storing in containers when they arrive!

This is the back of door rack all of the cans/oils get stored in.

I love these jars for items I use frequently. We purchase them in bulk and have a “stock” closet we refill from so the large bags aren’t taking up room in here. I use this label maker for everything in my house.

These are the bins I’m ordering for things like pasta, sauces, crackers, etc. I like that you can stack smaller sizes on top for additional storage.

These are the wire crates I’m ordering to hold produce that doesn’t go in fridge or on the counters.

I also love this plastic/aluminum wrap storage rack. Mine are always falling – excited to have this!

Under Sink Organization

It’s not the most attractive, but under sink organization is key for me! I need easy access to my cleaning supplies – I constantly want to wipe down my counters and surfaces.

I have two of these caddy totes that store all of my cleaning and dish products I use in the kitchen.

On the other side, I have this small pull out trash can.

That’s it! It’s still a work in progress as we get settled back in, so let me know if you have any favorite organization tips in the comments below!
