Spring Wardrobe Essentials

What I’m Wearing: Button Henley; Distressed Denim; Chunky Cardigan; Suede Boots

Nothing makes me happier than walking out to beaming down sunshine and warm temps…

but if I’m being totally honest, we haven’t had that much spring weather in Raleigh yet. We’ve had lots of rainy days and lingering winter weather, so I’ve been taking advantage of the extra time to compose my ideal spring wardrobe. Though I don’t think I’ll ever be able to have a traditional capsule wardrobe, I have been doing a MAJOR closet clear-out and have been focusing on keeping or purchasing pieces that are versatile and classic.

I’ve rounded up a few of my must-haves from the upcoming season. A few are already staples in my wardrobe, and a few are items currently in my shopping cart. These are now my most worn pair of jeans in my closet, and I find myself wanting to wear either this or this every single day!

Tops

I’m focusing on the basics for tops this year. For me, that includes a plain white tee and tank, a crisp button down, and a striped shirt. Specialty tops include a knit tank (I wore mine SO much last year) and a breezy silk button down for fancier evenings out.

Bottoms

I’m all about straight leg denim and loose fitting linen trousers at the moment. As temperatures start to rise, I’ll be thankful for the extra breathing room! I’m also not opposed to adding a print or two… I’m loving the striped and plaid varieties below.

Dresses + Jumpsuits

Jumpsuits have been one of my most worn items in my wardrobe so far, so I’m looking for a few more basic ones to incorporate. I love to layer them with a jacket or a tee underneath. Also a spring necessity: a floral printed dress for picnics and a linen number for weekend brunch.

Layering

My go-to peices for layering in spring and summer are denim jackets – both blue and white, as well as simple, neutral colored cardigans. I’m currently loving belted styles that resemble a bathrobe. The cozier, the better, right?

Shoes + Accessories

I gravitate towards simpler shoes and accessories this time of year. Neutral, woven handbags are key and I’m a fan of all the dainty gold hoops and shell embellished pieces we’re seeing right now. Staple spring shoes for me include a pair of sandals, block heels, and casual white sneakers.
