Our Engagement Photos + Wedding Updates

Happy Monday friends! I just got back from a jam-packed weekend of wedding planning, and it inspired me to post an update. I was looking back through the archives, and I can’t believe this was the last wedding post I did! It feels like a lifetime ago that I wrote that – considering I wrote it about an entirely different wedding. Confused? Let me explain…

Rewind to this time last year, Ryan + I selected a venue in Raleigh, NC (where we live) to get married. We began the planning process – from selecting vendors to making our guest list, we thought we were well underway. A little less than two months ago, we realized that we were planning the wedding we thought we were supposed to have, instead of the wedding either of us wanted. It definitely wasn’t an easy thing to admit, but luckily our friends and family were all incredibly supportive of our last minute change of heart. So, just like that, we called off our traditional wedding, and decided to have a mini-elopement in the mountains of North Carolina.

We worked diligently with Lauren from The Lion House (our wedding planner) to make sure that no matter how small, this day was still the day of our dreams. I’ll be doing a full post on the planning process in the near future, but I’m so happy to say that in less than two weeks, I’ll be marrying the love of my life at one of our favorite places in Blowing Rock. It will be cozy and intimate, and exactly what we pictured.

We shot these engagement photos over the summer with Autumn Harrison, who is also our wedding photographer! We threw the idea of shooting at a train station at her and she ran with it… and man, did she kill it! She honestly blew us away with these photos. Since we already had more traditional photos taken in Paris after our engagement, we wanted to do something a little more editorial and fun for this photo set. Autumn couldn’t have brought our vision to life more perfectly! I can hardly wait to see what she comes up with for our big day.

xoxo
