Fall Vacation to Williamsburg, Virginia

This past weekend, we took a quick overnight trip up to Williamsburg, Virginia. I grew up visiting Williamsburg with my family, but it’s also become a tradition since I met Ryan to make the annual trip up for Busch Garden’s Howl-O-Scream. During the weeks leading up to Halloween, the amusement park turns into a haunted attraction – the park stays open late, fills with fog, and essentially turns into one giant haunted house. I’ve definitely let out a few screams there over the years!

We stayed overnight at Kingsmill Resort & Spa, which has been one of my all time favorite resorts for years! Our room was just off of the James River and was so peaceful and quiet. If you’re interested in booking there, ask for a river facing room on the ground floor – that way you can walk right off your patio into the grass/river area! Oh, and the beds are literally the most comfortable ever. If you have time, also grab breakfast at their buffet in the morning. We didn’t this time around, but I have in the past and it’s so good!

Before we left town, we headed into Colonial Williamsburg for a couple of hours to walk around and grab lunch. The town itself is so quaint and charming – townspeople on the colonial side are dressed in period wear, and there is great shopping and dining! We grabbed some of the most delicious sandwiches at The Cheese Shop and sat outside to enjoy the fall breeze.

It was a very quick but super relaxing trip, and the leaves were just starting to change for the season! It definitely was the perfect thing to get me in the mood for all of the upcoming festivities in October!
