Weekly happenings vol. 90

If you’re a long, long, long time follower (aka my mom or sister), my blog started as a series of Currently posts — a compilation of five images from that past week that brought me joy. Here’s a look at one of the first I ever wrote.. so funny to see how much yet how little I’ve changed in the last decade.

Now that I’ve finally upgraded my phone storage, I’m finding myself taking more little snaps of my days like I used to. Here’s a look at my last week…

no. one

These cutie little kumquats I picked up from the flower district last week have brought so much sunshine into my hallway! They are the cutest little things – the pop of orange is just what I needed to remind me that spring is on their way. When I shared these on Instagram, I received lots of questions about where I found them! I got mine here:

Ryan surprised me with a spontaneous happy hour date to one of our favorite neighborhood spots the other day. Mermaid Inn is definitely a local favorite for happy hour – they have the best little snacks! I love getting oysters, the artichoke dip, and calamari! It’s the perfect post work treat and the prices are reasonable. We were the first ones in the other day and had a very, very rare moment of having the place to ourselves!

Speaking of spontaneous dates, we recently popped into the Sunday in Brooklyn pop up down in Seaport after a shoot the other day and – wow! Everything was delicious. We shared the spinach artichoke dip here (an absolute must), and I had the egg sandwich — SO good! Highly recommend grabbing a bite if you’re in NYC!

If you follow on Instagram, you know this vintage Murano I found on Facebook Marketplace is my newest pride and joy. I can’t believe the owner was letting her go for $30 – it actually felt bad taking it, but finders keepers! It’s a bit extra for a one-bedroom apartment, but it makes me so happy! I truly feel like I’m starting to build a collection of things I love that are unique and that is my goal for our space going forward.

no. five

This past week on my trip to the flower district, I decided to take the opportunity to not just run in and out, but actually absorb the experience and use it as a learning opportunity. I’m always a “oh that’s pretty, I’ll take that,” kind of shopper. But this past trip, I downloaded the PictureThis app and decided take my time, and stop to smell the roses, if you will. I spent time actually learning the names of flowers, where they grow and what season they bloom it. It made the trip feel so much more full and purposeful, as opposed to an errand to check off my to do list. That’s the kind of intention I want to bring into more of my life.
