I’m currently sitting writing this on the last day of April as I’m looking out the window watching the rain pour down. New York apparently felt very strongly about taking April showers seriously this year. I’m definitely missing the sunshine! I’ve been doing my best to keep the inside of my home feeling as sunny and spring-like as possible–constant fresh flowers, cooking lots of produce based meals, and alllll the floral/herb scented candles.

Thinking back to the beginning of this year when I really committed to living with intention… I feel like I’ve finally actually adapted this mindset. All change takes time, but I find myself asking myself before making decisions if it’s what I’m truly wanting. Not what I feel like I should do, or what’s trending or if it will make me feel better in the moment, but if it aligns with the vision I want for myself. From small things like making purchases and what I’ll have for lunch, to larger scale decisions as well. It’s been a life-altering perspective shift and it feels so rewarding when I stick to my intentions.

Another huge shift has been incorporating daily movement into my life. I’ve never been a huge gym girlie (I always found the setting so intimidating), but recently decided to join one and give it another try. I realized it’s filled a huge void for me–having a place to go routinely where I can push myself mentally and physically and be alone with my thoughts, yet surrounded by a community of people–each with their own goals. I’ve been challenging myself in new ways, and trying all sorts of new classes. It’s been such an unexpectedly rewarding experience! I’m coming up on two months of going consistently and have a weird sense of pride for allowing myself to try new things and change my opinion about something.

May ’23 bucket list

I made my way through almost everything on my April list and it felt great! When I did my check in the other day, I had actually forgotten that I had done some of the things, but checking them off and seeing everything I’d accomplished in one place was so satisfying. Sharing again what I’m hoping to check off for this month…

finish two books–one fiction, one non
give the bathroom a spring/summer organize & refresh
take myself out to brunch on a sunny morning
schedule an indulgent self-care day
first park picnic of the year
have an appetizers + puzzles night
spend an afternoon by the ocean
take a pottery or painting class
spend time vintage shopping in Brooklyn
surprise someone I adore with flowers
Looking forward to this month —

Two big highlights–I’m heading home to spend some extended time with family and also… seeing Taylor Swift! May felt so far away when I first purchased the Eras Tour tickets, so it’s surreal that it is finally here. I literally cannot wait… pretty sure I will just be crying happy tears the entire show. I’ve also been feeling the travel bug lately, so I’m going to use this month to map out some summer adventures. Nothing major, but just a couple of overnight trips here and there. I was telling someone the other day I wish I could be a slightly more spontaneous with those types of things–going to hold myself to that!

Wishing you all a beautiful month ahead! x
