Shop: café curtain / rolling cart
I quickly ran out of storage space in the kitchen for larger appliances, and wanted to figure out an aesthetic way to house them. This was around the same time I started following a lot of Italian chefs and fell in absolute love with simple and rustic design of their kitchens. I noticed a lot of them had lower cabinets closed in by curtains in lieu of traditional doors, and I immediately wanted to recreate the same look in my kitchen.
I found these café curtains and they instantly reminded me of the curtains I was coveting. I used this long tension rod (two side by side) to mount two of the curtains across the front, and this shorter rod for one panel the side. We store our recycling bin, extra appliances (toaster, blender, juicer) and our bread box below. I love how it charming it makes the space look.. but also that I’ve doubled our storage space!
