If you’ve been following along via Snapchat or Instagram, you may have noticed the spectacular fall foliage I was amongst this past weekend. Ryan and I headed up to the cabin in Blowing Rock, North Carolina for a quick weekend escape. Though we’re only halfway into October, this last quarter of the year seems to fly by at an exponential rate, and we wanted to take the opportunity to sit back, disconnect, and soak in a true fall weekend before our trip to Paris.

The fall colors were exactly what we hoped for. Nestled with the greens that were still hanging on, were pops of golden yellow, deep red, and burnt orange. It was beautiful! I woke up each morning just in time to see the sun rise – as it came up over the peak, it lit up the sea of colors on the mountain top and the trees glowed as if they were on fire. It was simply breathtaking!

The burnt mustard color of this dress couldn’t have been more fitting for the trip. It’s vibrant hue blended nicely with the coloring of the of background, and rich texture elevated the look, but the drop waisted aspect kept the look playful for a day of exploring around downtown Blowing Rock. We headed out just after sunrise, when the whole town was still blanketed in its morning mist and were accompanied by just a few other early risers out for their morning cup of joe.
