With summer in full swing here in Raleigh, it’s sometimes difficult to pull myself off of the couch to put on something other than shorts and a tank and venture out of the air conditioning into the sweltering heat. Yesterday was definitely one of those days – but instead of gluing myself to the sofa to watch Lost all day, I forced myself to head outdoors, and embrace the sunshine. I started the morning with a trip for a cup of coffee downtown (where it was even cool enough at 8am to enjoy a nice morning breeze from an outdoor table), followed by an afternoon of grilling hot dogs, corn, and reading poolside. Ryan and I then headed back out to watch the World Cup game here, and wrap up the evening at dinner with some friends. Lesson learned yesterday: the heat is a little more tolerable with a fun outfit, good company, and a filled schedule.
