July 4

This Month: July 2022

When I announced I was going back to school, I had someone send me a message saying “Good luck, and I mean that in the nicest way.” Let me just say — luck was has been much needed. I didn’t realize how adding one more thing to my plate would be the tipping point between sanity and, well, not. Before starting classes, I felt like I had plenty of free time to take on something else.. but quickly realized the amount of space that school is occupying in my brain makes it feel like I have a million more things on my plate. I’m going to try to be better about blocking out time for school and staying on top of it this month, instead of waiting until my assignments are due. Stay tuned.

In addition to the overwhelm of life in general, I’ve felt such an overwhelm with the state of the world, and how to be on social media during this time. Though I don’t share many “important” opinions on social media, I am surprisingly outspoken and passionate about them in my day to day life. It has been challenging to navigate that balance between not staying silent and also keeping my site and social channels focused on their intended purposes. It seems daily that we are confronted with something else happening.. and keeping up a facade of smiling during shopping hauls and photoshoots is taking its toll. Hence some of the changes I mentioned coming last month..

While everything is still a work in progress, you’ll start to notice some small things rolling out in the next few weeks. The website has already received phase one of a redesign, and has gone back to its original ‘The M.A. Times’ name. This is because (*drumroll*) Ryan will be guest writing some posts starting this month! There has always been way more to share than my one brain can process, let alone sit and put into words, so when Ryan expressed interest in co-authoring the site, I was ecstatic. Everything you see has always been a team effort since the beginning. From the photos to the labor behind every home renovation, he’s always been a part of the team. He will be covering topics like NYC Guides, DIY tutorials, men’s style and recipes.

I’m heading home to visit family this weekend, and we also have a trip to Florida at the end of the month, but otherwise I’m looking forward to finishing a couple of lingering home projects, soaking up summer in the city and most importantly – staying on top of my work!

This month, I’m…
