Our NYC Empty Apartment Tour & Plans

Hello from our new NYC apartment! I can’t believe we’ve been here almost a week already. We’re down to our last few boxes and are already starting to feel right at home. This space brings me such a feeling of joy and peace… but invigorates me at the same time. I can’t believe when I make my coffee, I can look out my window and see New York City! What a dream.

Our apartment is a one bedroom, one bath pre-war on the Upper West Side. We found our apartment after months of stalking StreetEasy (a NYC rental search site/app with lots of filters that sends alerts for new listings). I honestly don’t know how we got so lucky! I was immediately sold on the views of the Hudson River and all of the natural light. I still feel like I’m dreaming when I wake up in the morning and see the sun sparkling on the river.

I’m so excited to make this space even more our own and put our touch on it. Luckily, it already has some amazing pre-war charm (hello, massive crown molding and wall openings), but we’re going to add a few additional touches to make it both more efficient and our style.

Here are a few inspo photos that embody the feel I’m going for in our new place…

I’m excited that the existing architecture and history of our building lends itself to embracing a more vintage and European decor style. I’ve always had an affinity for Parisian architecture (lol at me putting in picture frame molding in my Craftsman style home in NC), so this space will certainly be leaning more in that direction! I’m also SO excited to be around so many great vintage shops and markets – I’m hoping to bring in a lot more old world charm through vintage art and furniture. In the meantime, here are a few new things that I’ve decided to incorporate…
