My Thoughts on The Miracle Morning

Over the last couple of months, I’ve been making a sincere effort to shift my sleeping habits from those of a night owl to an early riser. I asked for advice over on Instagram — everyone sent in some amazing tips! The true change for me, however, didn’t happen until I read The Miracle Morning by Hal Elrod.

Without divulging too much of the book (I promise you, it’s worth a read or listen), the idea behind changing your life before 8am is a series of steps taken every morning that are “guaranteed” to change your mindset and your life. Sound a little gimmicky? I thought so too, but I tried it anyways. It was hands down the best decision I’ve made.

After reading the book, I remember being so excited to wake up early the next morning to try out the six steps. I fell asleep looking forward to completing my new morning routine. I woke up even earlier than anticipated and shot right out of bed, excited for my life to change. I committed to doing The Miracle Morning (or TMM) for at least one month to see if it made a difference.

It did. I was waking up in a great mood around 6:30am every day… a vast improvement from my previous 9am rise time. I could feel the meditation bringing me peace, the journaling bringing me clarity, and the affirmations bringing me confidence. I saw physical changes in my body from working out daily, and finished more books in one month than I had the previous year combined. It was amazing.

During our move, my new-found habit fell the to the wayside, and I have been feeling it. I actually miss my quiet time in the morning, spent focusing on my goals and ambitions. I’ve noticed a rise in my anxiety, simply because I’m not spending that hour setting the tone for the rest of my day in the morning. I’m re-committing to the practice, and have that same excited feeling to get back into it. I’m ready to have my positive mindset and productive days back!

I received lots of questions about TMM when I shared it on Instagram, so I wanted to recap all of my thoughts here for you. I highly recommend reading and just trying it out for a week – it has been a game-changer for both myself and Ryan.
