Four Ways to Dress Up Joggers

Last year brought a lot of things that we didn’t see coming, and while there are several parts of the year I’d like to leave in the past, the emergence of joggers as everyday wear is something I’d be happy to have stick around. I have never been one to try out the athleisure look in the pasta, but the several casual work from home days convinced me to try out the trend. Below are a few of my favorite ways to wear the look! For the try on I’ll be wearing these cargo joggers from Zara (size S).

Start with a Monochrome Base

If you’re purchasing a jogger, I love to also the coordinating top so that I can can have the complete set. If not, pair a t-shirt or sweatshirt that is the same color as your monochrome base. Finish off the look by layering on a contrasting coat (light base with dark coat, or dark base with a light coat, etc) and some gold jewelry. This look is so simple and chic but can make such a statement.

Add a Trench Coat

This is a great way to transition your joggers into the spring season. Throwing on a trench coat is always a good idea! I love it tied back in the back to give my waist some definition. I paired this look with a padded shoulder tank and white sneakers for a dressed up yet casual look. I would definitely wear this out and about on a weekend!

Match Joggers with Outerwear

This is a reverse of the first – find an outerwear piece that matches your joggers, and pair with a contrasting top. For example, if you have black sweatpants, pair with a black overcoat or oversized blazer and a white tee or bodysuit. Polish off the look with a loafer or sneaker. This tip also works with a cardigan layered on top!

Pair with Denim

I love mixing two contrasting textures together, like this denim jacket and pair of sweatpants. This tip could also work with a tank and a denim jacket or a chambray button up shirt. I’d style it with the sleeves cuffed up, the top few buttons open, and pair of white sneakers like I’ve done here.
