Wardrobe Selects: Linen

Say hello to Summer’s fabric of choice…

Whenever I think summer, I think of all kinds of wonderful things like barbecues, lemonade, late nights, and mid-day swims… but, I also think of scorching hot sun and unescapable humidity… which can only lend itself to one type of dressing: the coolest and most breathable fabric possible. Say hello to Linen: my secret to surviving summertime in the South. I used to tease Ryan for wearing pants and long sleeve shirts all summer long and he would always respond with “But it’s linen, so I bet I’m cooler than you are right now.” Don’t tell him, but I never really believed him. That was, until I purchased a few linen pieces of my own.

This dress became a staple in my wardrobe last summer. It’s super breathable and lightweight – exactly what you need in ninety degree heat! I’ve since added a black mini dress (which stays surprisingly cool, even for a darker fabric), a white button down, and a pair of white shorts… all are some of my favorite summer staples. I’ve been on the hunt for a few more pieces to add to my collection this season. So far, I’m loving this little tie front top, this Reformation wrap midi skirt, and this white dress by Nicholas.
