One trend I have always loved but never been able to pull off (due to my already boxy figure) is a good drop-waist dress. I love that its silhouette is that of little girls, and it reminds me of a more simple and classy time. With little white dresses and easy-breezy summer style all the rage this season, I couldn’t help but snatch up this version by BCBGMAXAZRIA.
The waist sits just low enough to give it the drop-waist effect, without making me look like a complete tomboy. The classic shirt dress on top is perfectly balanced out with a full skirt on the bottom – I may have had a few Marilyn Monroe moments in this! I’m now convinced that a drop-waist dress can go from little-girl-cute to sophisticated and chic, perfect for an early morning espresso date or a carefree stroll through the farmer’s market.
