Happy Monday everyone! Hope everyone had (or is still having if you’re lucky enough to have MLK day off) a wonderful weekend! Mine was perfect – just enough relaxation time mixed with just enough social time. I spent Saturday morning sleeping in and reading It by Alexa Chung – it was so inspiring! I love how she pulls her inspiration for her sartorial choices from icons she saw in old films! I can definitely relate, as Breakfast at Tiffany’s has always been a favorite of mine!
After being left so inspired by her words, I quickly headed over to Pinterest to search images of some of my favorite style icons: Brigitte Bardot, Audrey Hepburn, Twiggy, Anna Karina, Jane Birkin, and of course, Marion Cotillard. Women that chic are worthy of their own Pinterest board after all (you can browse mine here). I could have sat for hours and scrolled through the vintage black and white photos of them – needless to say I think I’m set on the direction of my wardrobe for spring!
I’m so in love with the classic femme and slightly mod look of these women – from their bangs to bold winged eye-liner, they are perfection. Their style is effortless yet sophisticated, and those are elements I’ll definitely be incorporating more into my personal style. I love this photo of Brigitte Bardot in a high-neck white blouse tied off with a polka dot bow, and just enough volume to her bouffant – gorgeous! And this shot of Anna Karina in a boater hat and midi plaid skirt – is there a more perfect springtime picnic look?
Be sure to follow me on Pinterest here – the inspiration is endless and will be coming non-stop!
