Summer Beauty

Summer beauty is always a challenge for me. Between the humidity which makes my hair go crazy, and the temperatures that practically melt make up right off of my face, it’s always easier to throw my hair up into a bun and go sans-make up. Shocking as it may be (or not shocking at all), this isn’t typically my best look. Luckily, I’ve picked up a few products lately that have made my beauty routine a million times easier, and have helped me survive the last couple of months.

Paul Mitchell ‘Super Skinny’ Hair Serum – This has been a lifesaver this summer. My hairdresser introduced me to it a couple months back, and I’ve been using it non-stop. It’s part de-frizz, part shine, but basically – it’s magic in a bottle. A little dab is all I need, and it turns my thick, frizz prone mane into something that can actually hold up to the humidity.

Stila ‘Stay All Day’ Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner – On days that I actually consider myself some-what pulled together, eyeliner is a must. I like to apply just a thin line on the outer half of my upper eyelid, just for a little pop and definition. This eyeliner by Stila is perfect for summer – the marker tip makes for easy and quick application, and the waterproof black liner stays in place all day and is dramatic enough that I sometimes don’t even have to pair it with mascara.

Maybelline ‘Baby Lips’ Lip Balm in Cherry Me – I’d read about the wonder behind this simple lip balm so many places, and didn’t believe that a chap stick that was so inexpensive would be so magical. But I was wrong. Baby Lips is now my go-to lip balm – it’s soft and light, with just a perfect hint of color. It’s not sticky, it moisturizes my lips, and it stays on for a surprisingly long time. In the summer when minimal makeup is absolutely necessary, this balm and some blush is just about all I need.

Springs Eden Bar Soap in ‘Amber Bergamot‘ – When I’m all hot and sticky in the summertime, the last thing I want to do is drench myself in a heavy perfume. I’ve had this bar of soap sitting on my bathroom counter for months (it was much too pretty to unwrap), saving it for just the right time. My sister gave me an extra bar of it as a bridesmaid gift, so I started using it, and it is the perfect summer scent. It’s light and floral and not too stuffy, and stays with me throughout the day after I wash my hands, allowing me to skip the perfume and still smell flowery-fresh.
