I can’t believe it’s already Monday again! If you were following along on Snapchat, then you may have seen that I escaped to the mountains for a little weekend getaway/cool-down. My parents’ cabin in Blowing Rock, NC is still one of my favorite places to get away. Tucked up in the mountainside, it’s so quiet and peaceful, but it’s only a few minute drive into downtown. It was cool enough to turn the fireplace on in the evenings for a few minutes and cozy up next to it with a cup of hot tea.

The best thing about the mountains is that we can either be super active and explore and go hiking, or we can stay in, watch Netflix, and relax in the hot tub. This weekend we squeezed in a little bit of both. We headed out on Saturday morning to a town right down the road with absolutely no agenda or destination in mind.

We stumbled upon this pit stop and decided to pull over and see what the view was like. We hiked down a short trail and once we hit the clearing, then we were faced with one of the most gorgeous views I have ever seen up the mountains. We were literally right on the edge of a cliff! Sitting on the edge, it seemed like I was up in the clouds flying with the birds. I love discovering new corners of a place I’ve been a million times.

This lightweight plaid Anthropologie top was perfect to keep me cool while hiking! The denim I’m wearing was also the best pair to do a little bit of hiking in – they fit just like a mom jean but are still pretty flattering! I love the high rise and the raw hem. It can be a challenge to be dressed comfortably enough to hike, but still cute enough for when you stop for BBQ on the way back home (yes, that actually happened), but this outfit was the perfect mix of adventurous and casual!
