How time flies during fashion month! It seems like just yesterday we were waiting in anticipation of the first show, and here we are, nearly at the tail end of NYFW already. It’s been a blur of a few days of shows – with so many talented designers it’s impossible at this point to even try to pick favorites! From Givenchy, to Rebecca Minkoff, Rachel Zoe, Lela Rose, Carolina Herrera, and DVF, the amount of inspiration I now have swimming around in my head is out of control!

Instead of trying to pick out one or two things that I liked from each show, I’ll just touch on two that have stuck out as truly inspiring in my opinion. First up: Givenchy! As their first runway show in New York City, it was an event not to be missed! The all black and white collection was full of silk, lace, tulle, and the most intricate beading. Delicate headpieces and elaborate ball gowns graced the runway, but there were also looks that could easily translate from runway to a night out on the town. Givenchy showcased lace slips under suits, and loose cut trousers. The collection was smart and tailored, yet perfectly slinky and casual. This French fashion house’s show was one for the books! The chic black and white ensembles are what inspired my look in this post.

Fashion month always makes me realize one thing: the pitfall about living outside of fashion-focused cities is that sometimes it’s easy to get caught up in a bubble and shop the same designers year after year. Fashion week is the perfect way to get me out of this routine – it constantly introduces me to a plethora of new designers. One of my favorite new discoveries this year is Lela Rose. Her collection spoke to my more playful side, juxtaposing sophisticated and chic with whimsical colors and floral detailing. The structured necklines and gracefully flowing gowns won me over, providing me with endless inspiration and a new designer to watch! Click here to watch the show for yourself!
