Menswear-Inspired Dressing for Fall

As I mentioned in my last post, there were several trends I saw during New York Fashion Week that I just can’t wait until next spring to start wearing. Amongst the power suits and feminine touches were the most classic menswear-inspired pieces. From oversized jackets and jumpers to trousers, taking style cues from the guys is something on-trend for the coming months.

I’ve always found that wearing my pieces more oversized feels more natural – I usually tend to even size up in tops to achieve that boxy, tom-boyish look. I couldn’t be happier to see that oversized bottoms are in this season as well. While I love skinny jeans as much as the next girl, I’m usually more comfortable in a pair of high-waisted, wide-leg trousers and a chunky knit. Paired with my favorite ankle booties or pointy toe pumps, they are a wardrobe staple to dress up or down all season long.

I’m loving this pair from Storets paired with a dramatic bowtie blouse to add a feminine flair. Finished off with a pointy toe mule from Marc Fisher (this season’s “it” shoe), this super chic combination was definitely a favorite from my NYFW looks.
