It’s finally officially fall! Though I’ve been talking about the approach of fall for weeks now, I’m so ecstatic that it’s actually here. With the cooler weather and the crisp air comes the opportunity to layer on the sweaters, jackets, scarves, and hats – I just live for this kind of dressing!
In my post earlier this week, I talked about how skinny jeans are no longer front and center – it’s all about looser fitting menswear or 70’s inspired loose trousers. I’m in love with a good wide leg black pant! I’ve been wearing these since last year, and they’ve proven to be one of the most versirile and classic pairs I own.
No matter what I style with them, they are always the perfect piece. Heading into fall, I love them paired with a cropped high neck neck top (also obsessessing about this style of top popping up everywhere), and as we head into the cooler temps, I’m excited to do the opposite of what I’ve done here, and follow this styling tip from Porter magazine:
“Do experiment with the silhouette. Wide leg pants worn with a narrow top will throw the look off-kilter; instead pair with a single color voluminous knit, always tucked in at the front to maintain the waist. Don’t drown yourself in the fabric: it’s all about balancing proportions. The wide slouchy pant can be overwhelming, so ensure that the waist is high and fitted to elongate the leg and emphasize the slimmest part of the body.”
I’m also looking forward to pairing it with ribbed turtlenecks and sleeveless wool vests, as well as long wool coats that tie at the waist. No matter what I put with this style of pant, they always make me feel très chic! Shop the scroll bar below for this look, and how to style them in the upcoming seasons!
