Happy Saturday everyone! As you may have seen by way of my Instagram, I’m currently cozied up in our cabin in Blowing Rock, North Carolina. We spent the afternoon on the slopes yesterday – my first time skiing ever! I have to say it went pretty well, once I got the stopping under control! Other than that, we’ve stayed snuggled up by the fire watching horror movies the rest of the weekend.
This look is one of my favorites I worn so far this winter. Once Labor Day passed, I automatically thought it was time to put these white culottes away until the spring. They were one of my most loved pieces during the summer, so naturally I was disappointed to see them have to be put aside. Every time I walked in my closet, I saw them there, starring at me, waiting to be pulled out again.
But then, an incredible thing happened! During fashion week, I saw some of the most amazing street style (I talked about some of my favorites here), and one trend I absolutely loved was how the girls weren’t shy to pull out their midi skirts even in the midst of winter. They layered with suede boots and a maxi coat and they were good to go!
So, I thought to myself, if they can pull off that look with midi skirts, why couldn’t I apply the same concept to my well-loved culottes? I gave it a try – they were just long enough to cover the top of my leather lace-up booties, and paired with a slim black turtleneck and the warmest coat ever, my favorite summer piece suddenly became a winter-appropriate item. It’s always the best feeling when you find a way to be able to wear the best pieces in your wardrobe year-round!
